Beaches

When it's time for the water

The town beach

Finikoudes Beach

The palm-lined town beach, right along the promenade — easiest option, and everything is walkable from it. Good for an evening stroll too, out along the marina pier for the view back across the coastline.

A bit further out

Mackenzie Beach

A livelier stretch near the airport, known for the low-flying planes overhead — a novelty for some, background noise for others.

Salt lake & Hala Sultan Tekke

Larnaca's other side

Best in winter

Larnaca Salt Lake & the flamingos

A seasonal wetland that draws migrating flamingos in winter — a walk or cycle around the lake is a favourite for locals.

By the salt lake

Hala Sultan Tekke

A mosque and shrine on the edge of the salt lake, one of the most important Islamic sites in Cyprus.

Scenery & walks

Patticheio Amphitheatre & Nature Trail

The green belt bordering the Salt Lake — a paved walking path, an open-air stone amphitheatre, and good vantage points for birdwatching.

World-class diving

Zenobia Wreck (MS Zenobia)

A Swedish ferry that sank off Larnaca's coast in 1980, now one of the most highly rated wreck dives in the world.
